Ownership and roles
Owners manage the team, connections and export. Authors write and test changes. Reviewers approve releases. Supervisors read decision explanations, and viewers read policies and evidence. Owner status alone cannot draft, approve or activate a production rule.
Independent review
The reviewer sees who contributed to each revision. Where a product requires a second person, a self-review is refused with the reason, and where it allows one, the product’s recorded justification is required. Approval does not survive an edit, a changed test set or a changed definition.
Access follows each product
Authority in Automation never exceeds a person’s access in the product a rule changes. A rule that changes WorkSteps and KitProof needs a reviewer with access to both, or separate reviewers for each.
Releases each product confirms
A policy is active only when every product it changes confirms the exact release. A product that is waiting, paused or uncertain shows as such, and optional products are declared before review, never after a failure.
Retiring a rule and rolling back
Rolling back is a new reviewed release, and work already started keeps the release it began with. Withdrawing a shared definition stops new use and leaves each product’s history intact.
What SmartFACT Automation does not do
- Let an owner role alone approve a production rule.
- Change every product at the same instant.
- Erase authorship when a person changes role.
Common questions
What is the four eyes principle?
Two independent, qualified people check a critical action before it takes effect. In Automation it is the independent review that refuses a self-approval where a product requires a second person.
Who approves a rule that changes several products?
A reviewer with access to every affected product, or a separate reviewer for each product. Nobody approves a product they cannot access.
How long are decisions and approvals kept?
For the retention period agreed with you. Policies, approvals and decision records export in full.
