What is recorded
Each change keeps its original requirement as written, the proposed and accepted rule, the plain restatement, the test set and results, the contributors and reviewers, and each product’s confirmation of the release it runs.
Audit trail or audit log?
A log lists events. An audit trail connects them, so you can follow one decision back through the rule version that made it, the approval behind that version and the requirement it came from.
Explaining a past decision
Explanations use the facts and rule version recorded at decision time, never today’s rules rerun over old data. Where the original input was not kept, Automation says the evidence is missing.
Exporting the record
Owners can export policies, versions, approvals and decision records in full. Security, audit export and recovery are part of every plan.
What SmartFACT Automation does not do
- Reconstruct a past decision by guessing when its inputs were not kept.
Common questions
What should a rules audit trail include?
Who changed the rule and when, what changed, the tests and results, who approved it, where it was released and which version produced each decision.
Can a record be changed afterwards?
No. Approvals and decisions stay tied to their original facts and versions. A correction is a new recorded change.
